Be a Friend to Girl Scouting and Make a Gift

Help girls find their way with a gift to the Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis

Although the Girl Scout Program is volunteer-driven, the program has many expenses. The $10 membership dues go directly to the national organization, GSUSA. The Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis must find other sources of income, such as charitable contributions, to keep programs, events, and leader training affordable, and provide financial assistance to girls. The Girl Scouts prides itself in being an organization that is driven by its substantial volunteer base. But even with 8,000 volunteers providing tens of thousands of volunteer hours each year to 20,000 girls, there are still substantial program and material expenses. As a matter of fact, it costs $350 per girl to provide a Girl Scout experience for one year. In order to ensure that our programs remain affordable and accessible, the council must rely on financial gifts from a wide variety of sources.

Individuals, families, various United Way chapters, corporations, small business, and service organizations contribute annually to the Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis, because they know that Girl Scouting changes lives.

Your contribution, like a compass, helps girls find their way. Help girls chart a course to become tomorrow's leaders in business, sports, government, science, education, the arts and their communities.

Your charitable contribution, large or small, is important to us. A tax-deductible gift supports:
  • Qualified, trained and informed leaders/mentors
  • Low-cost activities and events for girls
  • Staff support for volunteers
  • Maintenance of properties for camp and troop programs
  • Summer camp experiences at reasonable cost to families
Surpassing the MN Charities Review Council Standards!
While the Minnesota Charities Review Council recommends that 70% of charities' budgets directly support their clients, over 87% of our budget directly supports girls. We're proud of the way we manage our funds, and would be pleased to share a copy of our latest financial statement with you. For a free copy of our Annual Report, including our independently audited financial statement, please contact us at Development@girlscoutsmpls.org.
